ㅁ Now and Today of Center for Intelligent Robotics by the Director, Kim, Moon-Sang.
ㅁ Major Functions of CIROS 3.0 Running Errand at a Faster Rate
ㅁ What is the implication of MOU with Denmark and Finland, the welfare developed countries?
ㅁ What happened at the 16th Technology Exchanges and Workshops?
ㅁ Why did TIME pay attention to English teaching robot developed by the Center?

# please introduce the Center for Intelligent Robotics(CIR) briefly.

As part of the Frontier R&D program sponsored by Ministry of Knowledge Economy began in 2003 and has been supervised by Korea Institute of Science and Technology. At the time of CIR establishment, yet the research base and industry in Korea deungeseon was noticeable after 10 years in the field of intelligent robots for the formation of new industries, starting with government efforts was The project cost about 10 billion per year and 10 years of long term research and development between the country of origin, as well as hard to find in the world of research and development projects is very challenging. Korea's industrial structure through which social and competitive intelligence robot considering a new industry research and development system for creating and ultimately secured pole-based research and development, industrialization ranging system is the main objective will be to secure.

# Please tell me about the major research projects of your center.

The human brain that corresponds to the knowledge of intelligent robots - Intelligent Systems, which corresponds to the senses, vision, speech technology, applied technology, and specialization of the robot, these technologies can be used in practical service robot technology for integrated global competitiveness that is the primary goal. Based on this new robot industry, education and silver to help support their taedongdoel new commercialization model presented in the field and through the application of a variety of companies to demonstrate practical techniques that can be used to provide a second major project useful and Wed can.

# Please tell us CIR representative robots and about their key functions & features.

There are total of five representative robots. Made recently to commercializing targeted elderly care and English mobile autonomous robot that is being used as educational SILBOT (ENGKEY) and face robot developed for guidance and performances are MERO. And a meal for errands and washing service helper robot 'CIROS' and shows the master, the people also recently been spotlighted MC keyboard is a robot. That could be used as household robots SILBOT (ENGKEY) smaller version of the mini-ENGKEY are ahead of the release.

# Tell us about MOU conclusion between CIR and City of Helsinki Finland & Denmark Aarhus, the scope and objectives?

Watch the last countries in February 2011 with the MOU signed in late 2011 the two countries have dementia in the elderly care center in charge of training a pilot installation and operation of the robot with the aim has been signed. The robot system has been operating successfully completed a recent full-scale service robot business in Europe are preparing for entry into a situation that is secondary. The significance of this project an excellent social infrastructure of the Nordic Center of the successful application of intelligent robots, and ultimately the local joint ventures and public service projects through the European service robot that is a stepping stone to preempt the market is dee . The current performance of the business has been recognized from the joint venture established in Denmark and the secondary effect, such as business discussions are underway.

# Intoduce the CIR 16
th workshop for Tech Exchange held successfully from last August 24 to 26 in Goseong City, Gangwon Province.

Frontier Post (after the completion of Agency) for the former Center researchers involved in the direction of the heated discussion of the 16th technical exchange workshops conducted eight years of progress up the back passage to see every detail by technology, the technology in the future to achieve further development and commercialization necessary for network-based and has been an opportunity to bond more. In conclusion, Korea is based on the experience of Frontier Center for Free Next-generation robots to build R & D ecosystem and resulted in a heated discussion in progress, the situation is the government proposal. Not satisfied with the current business built through this project in the field of intelligent robots to ensure continued competitiveness is part of our effort.

# Tell us about the English Teaching Robot selected as one of the BEST 50 Inventions 2010 by TIME magazine.

Last December 2009 debuted the world's first robot teacher of English secondary school students teaching elementary school in Daegu, Masan and is applied to the actual students and teachers using a robot, has earned a great response to the parents. The robot to perform the role of native education is achieved in two formats. First, the remote operation of cheap native of the Philippines in the form of education to the Native adjustments as your robot avatar is a form of communicating with your child. Another form of intelligent robots using their own words and sentences to complete happiness and fun through the review are carried out additional training. This is America, Europe, Asia, India and other foreign media, and innovative education solutions to professionals received recognition, robotic systems and a variety of curriculum supplement and upgrade the current is very creative and future-oriented business model has evolved. This year, the international exhibition and national education through collaboration with suppliers may be accepted in the market is expected to complete the commercialization model.

# Please give your message to KSME members regarding the Intelligent robotics R&D.

Intelligent robot technology machinery, electronics, computers, artificial intelligence, sensor fusion technology is a variety of disciplines. Through this fusion did not exist before the creation of new services and provide new engines of growth for existing industries in the sense that it is a very important technology. For this reason, the government of intelligent robots in the future to feed our country are embracing next-generation growth engine. In intelligent robot mechanical robot technology is to give substance and practical aspects of enabling services are the most important part. Nation for the automotive, marine and mechanical technology based mobile phones, games, information and communication technologies to support industry, and recently led the semiconductor industry, nanotechnology is a very strong country. As a country with such intelligent infrastructure services industry than any other country in the world, has a competitive advantage that can not be harmed. Personally, I shocked the world in recent wave of entertainment in the area of wind reproduced believe that intelligent robots. We have people with passion and creativity based on the new robot industry will use it a lot of young students and researchers hope to join.

# Your future plans and goal of the center, please tell us about.

Agency in March next year before the end of the 10 years developing the core technologies and intelligent robots represent robots and to spread abroad to the business model is sprinting. This year, for the second year in Special Education elder care robot and robot pilot projects conducted in Europe and it is based on intelligent robots in the domestic and European companies for sale, co-founded and is being pursued. The remaining period of the future based on technology developed so far are looking forward to a variety of commercially made. Center for Frontier's efforts so far, and its built-Based Intelligent Robot R & D for future domestic and 2018 to build the ecosystem in order to realize a robot powerhouse Korea will make a substantial contribution.
